 Between Light and Silence is a large-format figurative portrait defined by its concentrated expression and strong contrast between exposed paper and densely worked charcoal. The three-quarter position gives the sitter a quiet intensity, with the face emerging gradually from the darker passages surrounding the eyes, jaw and clothing.

Executed in charcoal on paper, the drawing combines controlled observation with deliberately visible, energetic mark-making. Dense hatching establishes depth and structure, while unfinished passages around the head preserve the immediacy of the original study.

An original, one of a kind work by academic artist Nikola, signed and dated 2019. At nearly 70 cm in height, the work has a substantial presence while retaining the intimacy and directness of drawing.
